Operational Information
Listed below are a few key points pertaining to the maintenance and operation of the K-GRIP™ Siphon Gun.
The Siphon Gun runs off a minimum 3/4 hp or larger air compressor. It sprays anywhere from 10 - 90 PSI and consumes 2-3 cfm at 90 PSI.
A good general pressure to start spraying at is 30 PSI. Prior to applying you finish, test the spray pattern on a piece of scrap wood or cardboard to ensure that the air pressure setting and viscosity of the material will allow the K-GRIP™ Siphon Gun produce good results. Depending on the test results, if the viscosity of the material is too thick it may require thinning or the pressure may need to be increased. If the material is thin and runs easily then lower the air pressure and possibly lower the position of the liquid nozzle to reduce the amount of material being pulled up the tube.

To adjust the amount of material applied, you turn the liquid nozzle, located on the end of the fluid tube either up or down. Lowering the nozzle reduces the vacuum in the tube therefore reducing the amount of material applied - ideal for shading with stains. To obtain the 1/4" pattern move the gun closer to the work much like airbrushing. Turning the liquid nozzle up to the half way position (largest pattern) with the gun approximately 4" - 5" away from the work will achieve a 2 1/2" pattern with latex, 3 1/2" pattern with thinner materials - (pressure setting @ 30 PSI). For larger patterns - increase the air pressure and move the gun further away from the work e.g. 6" -7" distance and decrease travel speed.
Clean up is easy. Since only air passes through the body of the gun, the clean up is limited to the fluid tube and liquid nozzle. Simply fill another sealer jar with the appropriate cleaner, connect it to the gun, spray the cleaner through and externally wipe off the liquid nozzle. Disconnect the air line and by placing one finger over the liquid nozzle opening and one finger over the vent hole, splash the cleaner around inside the jar to clean off the jar gasket and cover plate surfaces.
The K-GRIP™ Spray Gun is adaptable to other containers. Unscrew the two Robertson head screws located on the underside of the cover plate. Use the cover plate as a template on the lid of the new container to lay out the hole pattern. Using a 1/4" and 1/8" drills, place holes in new jar lid and then screw the new lid back on to the coverplate flange on the gun. This is ideal for baby food jars, small cans of stain, polyurethane’s etc.
